Puducherry: The Puducherry Regional Office of the Employees Provident Fund Organisation has installed an `interactive kiosk' on its premises here. A release from the EPFO said on Monday that the kiosk was part of five such facilities installed in Chennai and Puducherry regions. They are meant to enable members to know the status and get details of their claims and settlements. The sixth meeting of the Regional Committee of the EPFO office here held here recently reviewed the steps it had taken. Officials of the Puducherry Labour Department also participated in the deliberations. Regional Provident Commissioner-I A. Mahendra Raju, who is the Secretary of the Committee, was among those who addressed the participants.
New establishments included
The release said up to January this year, 83 new establishments were brought under the purview of the Employees Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 1952. The Organisation also identified defaults through Computerised Compliance Tracking System (CCTS)-based output reports within the shortest period possible. The release said the services of the Enforcement Officers were utilised to secure compliance from the establishments and also for effective default management. Employers are issued registration/PF code number within three days and settlement of accounts had also been fully computerised. As many as 1,43,873 annual accounts had been issued during the fiscal 2006-2007.
Plea for land
allotment
Mr. Mahendra Raju made an appeal to the administration to allot land for construction of an office building and residential quarters for the staff of the EPFO. He also requested the administration to facilitate the opening of a district-level office in Karaikal. Labour Commissioner S D Sundaresan also spoke.
