TCC expects Rs. 145-crore sales

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: Travancore Cochin Chemicals (TCC) expects to net sales estimated at Rs. 145 crore this fiscal.

General Manager M.P. Sukumaran Nair said in a press release that the company also hoped to net profits of Rs. 6 crore this year. The turnover during last year was Rs. 126 crore. TCC had increased production of caustic soda and related items to 175 tonnes.

Mr. Nair said that steps had been taken to reduce pollution by setting up a membrane-cell plant instead of the mercury cell technology. He said the new product Ecoclean would be of use to various local bodies and hospitals.

The company had plans to set up a mini-hydel project to cut down on electricity charges.

With the functioning of the petrochemical complex in Kochi, TCC hoped to increase the capacity of chlorine production, he said.
