A century by Aaron Paul (119, 154 balls, 19 x 4) for R. Dayanand XI and good bowling by medium-pacer Narendra (seven for 72) for MP Colts were the highlights of the first day's play in the three-day knock-out cricket tournament at ECIL Grounds here on Monday.

The scores: R. Dayanand XI 298 in 63 overs (Ashish Reddy 46, Aaron Paul 119, Praneeth Kumar 51, Narendra seven for 72) vs MP Colts 63 for two.

Under-25 fixtures

The South Zone P.S. Ram Mohan Rao Trophy (under-25) limited-overs cricket tournament will be held here from Tuesday at different grounds.

In the inaugural matches on Tuesday, Hyderabad will take on Goa at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium (Uppal), Andhra meets Tamil Nadu at Gymkhana and Karnataka clashes with Kerala at AOC Stadium.

The event will be a round-robin league affair with the top team emerging winners.

Jaisimha XI triumphs

ML Jaimsimha XI won the tournament organised by Hyderabad State Veterans Cricket Association, defeating Eddie Aibara XI by nine wickets at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium (Uppal) here on Monday.

The event was a selection tournament to pick the State team for the South Zone veterans' championship to be held in Kakinada from March 1. R.Mohan Kumar, Assistant Commissioner, Income Tax, gave away the prizes.

The scores: Eddie Aibara XI 105 for six lost to ML Jaisimha XI 106 for one (B. Srinivas 38 not out).
