Easy wins for Reserve Line

Madurai: Reserve Line SC (Madurai) posted two easy wins in the five-team Madurai Regional SDAT-TNHA Trophy hockey league championship, at Madurai on Monday.

The results:

Reserve Line (Mdu) 5 (Soundarapandian 2, Radhakrishnan, Thamarai Selvan, Rajagopal) bt Red Rose (Viru) 1 (Tony); Palace (Siva) 4 (Karunakaran, Jegadeesh, Rajaguru, Senthil) bt Savariappa Udayar Memorial (R'patti) 0.

Red Rose 2 (Tony 2) bt Liberation (Din) 1 (Saravanan); Reserve Line 4 (Kathiravan, Thamarai Selvan, Rajagopal, Venkatesh) bt SUM (R'patti) 0.

Manigandan wins

S.S. Manigandan and R. Preethi, both from Dolphin Matriculation HSS, won the boys' and girls' under-17 titles respectively in the State-level open chess tournament, organised by Madurai District Chess Association at Madurai on Sunday.

The winners:

Boys: U-17: S.S. Manigandan; U-14: C. Sundara Rajan (Lakshmi MHSS); U-12: G. Yogesh (SEV); U-10: R.S. Sivaa Shaanth Suman (Maharishi); U-8: A. Visweshvar (IDA Scudder School, Vellore).
