Visalatchi wins

SIVAKASI: R. Visalatchi of Sivakasi Jaycees Matriculation HSS and V.S. Sakthivel Pandian of Sivakasi Lions Matriculation HSS won the under-18 and under-12 titles respectively in the Arasan Fire Works Virudhunagar district rapid chess championship, organised by Sivakasi Chess Club, at Sivakasi on Sunday.

The final placings: U-18: 1. R. Visalatchi (Jaycees MHSS) 4, 2. A. Kedharnath (JMHSS) 4, 3. A. Nagaarjuna (JMHSS) 4; U-12: 1. V.S. Sakthivel Pandian (Lions MHSS) 5, 2. S.D.R. Induja (JMHSS) 4, 3. K. Induja (JMHSS) 4.

Matches drawn

Pattumani Memorial FC and Coronation FC played a goalless draw in the Dindigul District Football Association `B' division league for the Coronation Trophy at Dindigul on Sunday.

In another match Arasan FC held TPS FC to a goalless draw.

ANJC is champion

Ayya Nadar Janakiammal College won the William G. Morgan Trophy defeating Arasan Ganesan Polytechnic 19-25, 25-13, 25-16, 23-25, 15-9 in the final of the State-level invitation inter-collegiate volleyball tournament, organised by Einstein College of Engineering at Tirunelveli on Sunday. ANJC also bagged a cash award of Rs. 10,000.

Vasanthan shines

Three goals by Vasanthan and one by Irudayaraj helped St. Joseph's FC, Punnakayal defeat DCW Club 4-3 in the Tuticorin District Football Association `D' division league at Kayalpatnam on Sunday.
