TIRUPATI: C.V.J. Varma, President, Council of Power Utilities, New Delhi, has questioned the propriety of the developed countries, which to a large extent were responsible for environmental degradation, prescribing norms for developing countries vis a vis food, water and energy securities. Delivering a talk on the theme, "Water resources development for food and energy security" at a meeting organised here on Monday, he strongly pitched for an independent water resources development policy for the developing nations. He said if India developed and provided surface water for irrigation purposes the benefits would be manifold.
