Advocates form human chain

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI : Advocates of the Madras High Court formed a human chain on the NSC Bose Road, urging the Union Government to notify the Cauvery Water Tribunal award.

R.C. Paul Kanagaraj, president of the Madras High Court Advocates Association, which had called for the agitation, wanted Karnataka to rein in persons protesting Tamils and blocking traffic between the two States. The Tamil Nadu Government must identify the merits and demerits of the award and take a decision on preferring an appeal against the verdict expeditiously, he said.

The extraordinary general body meeting of the MHAA would meet again on Wednesday and debate the matter further, Mr. Paul Kanagaraj said.

Advocates belonging to the Pattali Makkal Katchi and the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam also participated in the agitation.
