BANGALORE: A health profile of workers from all sectors, including information technology, will be compiled as the beginning of a comprehensive health project for the city. This was announced on Monday at a workshop organised by the Commonwealth Association for Mental Handicap and Development Disabilities (CAMHADD) in collaboration with the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike and R.V. College of Physiotherapy. Speaking at a workshop on "Prevention of occupational health hazards," V.R. Pandurangi, CAMHADD Emeritus Secretary-General and International Coordinator, said the organisation would develop a health profile of workers in the next one year. "We will develop a data base of statistics on workers both in formal and informal economy and their health problems. Health hazards faced by sanitation workers such as pourakarmikas will be dealt with on a priority basis. Now we do not have any such data available," he said. Occupational hazards faced by transport employees and IT professionals will also be studied, he added.
