Training programme through EDUSAT

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Department of Higher Education has put in place a comprehensive training programme on higher education to be aired through the EDUSAT beginning Tuesday.

The programme, `Vazhikatti,' will comprise a seminar on `Higher education: possibilities and challenges' to be aired from 8.45 a.m. to 9.45 a.m. and from 4.15 p.m. to 5.15 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday. The seminar will be led by educationist B.S. Warrier and will also feature counselling classes for students. The seminar will be aired in the VICTERS channel.

The two-phase training programme for the engineering/medical entrance examination prepared by the State Institute for Educational Technology (SIET) will also be aired as part of the `Vazhikatti' programme. The first phase will be broadcast from February 22 to March 10 and the second phase from March 31 to April 20. In the first phase, the programme on the medical entrance examination will be broadcast from 8.45 a.m. to 9.45 a.m. and the programme on the engineering entrance examination from 4.15 p.m. to 5.15 p.m. In the second phase, the programme on the medical entrance examination will be aired from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the programme on the engineering entrance from 1.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.

Nearly 2,000 questions that featured in the entrance examinations from 2003 will be answered and explained in the 50-hour programme. After this, the model engineering/medical entrance examination prepared by the SIET will be held in all higher secondary and vocational higher secondary schools on April 20 and 21. The programme would be inaugurated at 8.30 a.m. on Tuesday at the EDUSAT studio at Gorky Bhavanam by Minister for Education M.A. Baby.
