Kannur Collector Ishita Roy was outspoken when she derided TV addiction among parents. As the chief guest at the Gundert Day function organised by the Dr. Hermann Gundert Foundation at Thalassery on February 19, she told the audience, mostly comprising students of Gundert School and their parents, that she was not afflicted with the `disease of watching serials on the TV'. The Collector advised the parents to find more time with their children. Ms. Roy also dwelt on the importance of sharing as a quality. She recalled how her teachers in the school she studied used to hold a contest of throwing a toffee among the students. The winner had to share the toffee among 16 other students. "The teachers were inculcating the habit of sharing," she said. The Collector was all praise for Gundert School and termed it as exemplary. Without any assistance from the Government or local bodies, the school was able to provide free education to a large number of students. Out of the 408 students, 120 were getting free education.
