Caught unawares

A bevy of TV cameras and horde of reporters at the conference hall of Lenin Centre, the district head quarters of the CPI (M) caught Gopi Kottamurickal literally unawares. The party district secretary did not hide his surprise on seeing the media crew and wondered what brought the media to the centre. The party leaders were trickling in at the district headquarters for the district secretariat meeting. And most of them were unaware of the fact Fisheries Minister S. Sarma had hurriedly convened a press conference to announce some projects.

Mr. Sarma, who at the outset announced that he had to attend the party meeting after the press briefing, also left the hall quickly after the press conference.
