Tapasya's anniversary fete

KOCHI: The 30th anniversary of Tapasya, forum for art and literature, will be held in at Seetharam Kalamandir, Layam Road, Thripunithura, on Saturday and Sunday.

Poet Akkitham will be honoured on the occasion by Vishnu Narayanan Namboodiri, poet.

A seminar on `Cinema 2006' will be held the same day.

It will be presided over by film director K.G. George. Directors Siddique and Roshhan Anddrews would also participate in the programme.

Seminar on novel

The highlight of the second day is a seminar on `Malayalam novel - present and future,' in which writers K.R. Meera, Subhash Chandran, A.M. Unnikrishnan and M.V. Benny will participate. Both the seminars will be held at 2.30 p.m.

Cultural programmes in the evening at 6 p.m. will include fusion music led by Sudhir Kadalundy, who had found mention in the Guinness Book for a 57-hour tabla recital.

Mohiniyattam performance by Suchitra Vishweshwaran will be held later on the theme from Narayaneeyam: Keshadipadarpanam.

Padayani, a traditional folk art, will be performed on Sunday at Layam Ground from 6 p.m. onwards.
