WELLINGTON: Fiji's army chief and Interim Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama said on Tuesday that Fiji should be ready for elections to be held in 2010. According to Fijilive, a local news service, Cmdr. Bainimarama said Fiji's roadmap to democracy, which includes plans to conduct a population census, would review the Constitution and electoral processes as well as the national elections within the next three years. Cmdr Bainimarama installed himself as Prime Minister after ousting the elected Government on December 5 last year. Cmdr Bainimarama said the interim administration would continue with its mandate from the President to improve the economy, resolve land lease issues, reduce poverty and create prosperity for the people. Cmdr Bainimarama said the ``clean-up'' campaign he launched last December would continue. Xinhua
