Radhakrishnan scores match-winner

Madurai: Radhakrishnan's goal in the 33rd minute helped Reserve Line SC (Madurai) defeat Palace HC (Sivagangai) 1-0 and record its third win in the five-team Madurai Regional SDAT-TNCA Trophy hockey league championship here on Tuesday.

Reserve Line, with three wins, has already qualified for the inter-regional (summit) league at Chennai, with one more match to play. The results: Reserve Line 1 (Radhakrishnan) bt Palace 0; Liberation bt SUM 0; Red Rose 3 (Vivekananda, Tony, Devaraj) bt SUM 0; Palace 2 (Premkumar, Chandrasekar) bt Liberation 1 (Prabu).

Madurai men post win

Host Madurai beat Vellore 58-20 in the five-team pool `G' league in the men's section in the 51st TN State senior kabaddi championship at Checkanurani, near Madurai, on Tuesday.

Nagaraj bags five

Nagaraj's five for 12 helped Vanchi CC defeat Oscar CC by eight wickets in the Sivagangai DCA `A' division cricket league at Karaikudi on Sunday.

The scores:

`A' division: Oscar 57 in 16 overs (Nagaraj five for 12) lost to Vanchi 60 for two in 11 overs.

AP Tech WBC Software Lab 90 in 28.4 overs lost to Devakottai 91 for two in 12.2 overs.

Karaikudi Town 94 in 29.3 overs lost to Vanchi 98 for three in 12.3 overs (Suresh 59 not out).

Moonlight 180 in 34.2 overs (John Paul four for 35) bt AP Tech WBC Software Lab 143 in 28.1 overs (Jeevanraj five for 28).

Kumaran, Monisha win titles

B. Kumaran and G.K. Monisha, both from Chennai, won the boys' and girls' titles respectively in the 20th State under-9 chess championship at Nagercoil recently.

The final placings:

Boys: 1. B. Kumaran (Che) 10 pts; 2-4: Aswath P. Hari (Cbe), M. Karthikeyan (Kovai Kids CA), R. Hari Vallabha (Che) 8.5; 5. J. Keerthivasan (Chrompet CA) 8.
