CHENNAI: Alpha Matriculation School, Chennai, will offer Cambridge International Primary Programme for Standard I to Standard VI from the academic year 2007-2008. The Programme will provide the curriculum, guidelines and aid teachers in developing classroom teaching and learning methodologies for Mathematics, English and Science. The Cambridge International Primary Programme is concept-oriented and will provide hands-on experience, make students understand subject concepts themselves and move them to a higher order of thinking. While Mathematics, English and Science will be taught as per Cambridge International Primary Programme, indigenous syllabus for other subjects will be devised by the school incorporating Cambridge's creative learning tools, school authorities said. Suja George, Managing Director, Alpha Group of Institutions, said, "We have online learning materials, live projects and visual presentation as part of our syllabus. With Cambridge International Primary Programme membership, all this is more formalised and will come with international certification." Ms. Suja said: "Every year the number of people going from Tamil Nadu to foreign countries for jobs is increasing. When they move out with their family, their children find it difficult to cope with the international standards. By practicing international programs like Cambridge International Primary Programme, we will equip our students with necessary skills."
