Zainab outplays Vennela, makes quarterfinals

HYDERABAD: Zainab Ali Sajjad outplayed D. Vennela 4-0, 4-1 in the girls' under-14 singles pre-quarterfinals of the Punna-AITA Talent Series sub-juniors tennis tournament at Punna Tennis Academy here on Tuesday.

Cistron posts win

Cistron recorded a 14-run win against Guzzlers in the Cistron-Veva Friendship Cup corporate cricket tournament here.

The scores: Cistron 176 for six (S. Bharat 40, Biswajit Das 42) bt Guzzlers 162 for seven (Hemanth Kumar 46).

Airtel 90 lost to Veva Info Matrix 93 for five.

Talwar Hyundai CC 131 (Faiz Ahmed four for 16) lost to Jairaj Steels Ltd 135 for one (Vicky 69, Aditya Agarwal 56).

Melgiri CC 137 for nine (Satish 53, Pankaj four for 29) lost to Capco Capacitors 138 for two (Imtiaz 57, Sanjay 44).

Alwal Stars triumphs

Alwal Stars FC won the final of the eighth K. Prabhakar Reddy Challenge Shield football tournament (under-16), defeating host CCOB 7-6 in a tie-breaker after the two teams were locked on two goals each at the end of regulation time. Sonu and Sai Kumar were the scorers for Alwal Stars while Ahmed netted a brace to level scores. Anuj of Alwal Stars emerged leading scorer of the event with 10 goals.

Road races

The Hyderabad District Athletic Association will organise Hyderabad 10K Road Races on February 25 at Lal Bahadur Stadium from 6.00 a.m. Competitions will be held for men and women, boys and girls in the age groups of 12 to 18 years and for veterans.
