BANGALORE: The State Government has earned Rs. 15,807.85 crore in revenue in the first half of the financial year ending September 30, which is 44 per cent of the budget estimates. The mid-term review of the State's finances for 2006-07 was tabled in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday. According to the review, the devolution of Central taxes accounted for 44 per cent and grants from the Union Government for 38 per cent of the budget estimates. The budget estimate of total revenue receipts is Rs. 35,875.07 crore for the current fiscal year. On the expenditure side, plan expenditure at the end of September was 28 per cent of the budget estimates and non-plan expenditure was 38 per cent. Non-plan expenditure on general, social and economic services was 32 per cent, 52 per cent and 38 per cent. Plan expenditure on these services was 10 per cent, 29 per cent and 28 per cent respectively. As for capital expenditure, most of the expenditure was incurred on the plan side. Plan expenditure was 38 per cent of the budget estimates. The fiscal deficit was Rs. 1117.27 crore. Although the realisation of revenue was on target,restraint on expenditure was needed to compensate for the additional expenditure approved in supplementary estimates, the review said.
