PLANNING: Principal Secretary of the Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj M.R. Srinivas Murthy chairing a review meeting in Gulbarga on Tuesday ahead of the scheduled visit of President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam to the district on February 25.
GULBARGA: Principal Secretary of the Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj M.R. Srinivas Murthy held a meeting here on Tuesday to review preparations for the visit of President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam to the district on February 25. He also inspected projects under way in Srinivas Saradagi village, where the President is scheduled to inaugurate the "Suvarna Gramodaya" scheme.
`Matter of pride'
Mr. Murthy said it was a matter of pride for the district that the scheme was being inaugurated here. He sought the co-operation of all officials to ensure the success of the President's visit. He told officials to work to ensure that Srinivas Saradagi was made a model village. Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Pandey gave a report on the preparations being made in the village. Zilla panchayat Chief Executive Officer P.C. Jaffer said that an exhibition of 70 stalls would be held in the village as part of the programme. Officials of various departments were present.
