Haryana Cabinet condemns Samjhauta Express blasts

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Cabinet which met here on Tuesday passed a resolution expressing shock and dismay over the bomb blasts in the Samjhauta Express train near Panipat on February 19 in which many people lost their lives.

It also appreciated the prompt and compassionate efforts of the local villagers in helping the injured passengers.

Waiver

Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda disclosed that the Cabinet decided to write off unrecoverable arrears of sales tax under the Haryana General Sales Tax Act and Central Sales Tax Act worth over Rs.2 crore.

It also decided to increase the authorised share capital of the Haryana Women Development Corporation from Rs.10 crore to Rs.15 crore.

Mr. Hooda further disclosed that the Cabinet decided to convene the Budget Session of the State Assembly from March 9.

The Cabinet also decided to amend the Haryana Value Added Tax Rules, 2003, for revision of the lump sum (tax) rates prescribed for brick kiln owners in view of hardship being faced by them.

It also decided to amend the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act, 1994, in view of the consolidated proposal received from the State Election Commission to ensure purity and fairness in the conduct of municipal elections.

The Cabinet also approved the draft resolutions to be tabled in the State Assembly regarding the Metro extension to Sushant Lok in Gurgaon.

It also decided to amend Section 22 of the Haryana Local Area Development Tax Act, 2000, to impart a compensatory character to the Act and extend a greater benefit of LADT funds to LADT payers. It also decided to set up a Local Area Development Board.
