Panchayat polls last phase today

BHUBANESWAR: The last phase of the Orissa panchayat elections will be held on Wednesday. Adequate security arrangements have been made for the final phase, the State Election Commission has said.

Polling will be held for as many as 86 posts of Zilla Parishad Member, 601 posts of Panchayat Samiti Member, 606 posts of sarpanch and 8,458 posts of Ward Member in the last phase.

Meanwhile, re-polling in a large number of booths was conducted in different parts of the State. Polling in these booths was cancelled due to various reasons during the previous phases of elections.

According to the Election Commission, 74.76 pert cent voters cast their votes in the fourth phase of the election that was conducted on Monday.
