Residents demand title deeds for alternative house sites

They have not been issued even after approval from the slum clearance board

IN PROTEST: Residents of Tippu Nagar led by the City Congress Committee staging a demonstration in Shimoga on Tuesday.

SHIMOGA: Residents of Tippu Nagar, led by the City Congress Committee, staged a protest here on Tuesday demanding the issuance of title deeds for the house sites allotted to them in the tank area.

They said the City Municipal Council had not issued the title deeds even after the State Slum Clearance Board sanctioned them.

Other demands

The other demands voiced by them included implementation of the underground drainage system, proper drinking water supply and asphaltation of the roads in their area.

They complained that the supply of the food grains and other essential commodities through the ration shop was not satisfactory.

Former president of the City Municipal Council B.A. Ramesh Hegde who spoke on the occasion said it was unfortunate that the slums were not being developed properly although three Ministers hailed from Shimoga district.

He asked them to ensure the all round development of the slums instead of giving false promises.

H.M. Chandrasekharappa, former MLA, Khaji Ahmed, president of the City Congress Block (South) and H.C. Yogish participated in the demonstration.
