Lensman ends life

Staff Reporter

ELURU: Y. Satish Kumar alias Uday, 26, a city-based freelance photographer, who was wanted in a case of woman missing reported at Medchal in Rangareddy district, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence on Tuesday.

The Medchal police were after him for the last few days following a complaint by the woman's parents. Assisted by the II-Town police, a team of sleuths from Medchal descended on the city on Sunday and whisked away his father Rambabu, an employee in the local Sri Krishna Jute Mill, for `questioning'.

According to the victim's relatives, the alleged excess by the police on Uday's parents during the raid had led to his suicide.

They charged the police with creating a scene at the victim's house in the night without even search warrant.

Meanwhile, city Circle Inspector Vijaya Pal told reporters that the II-Town police had extended assistance to their Medchal counterparts at a request by the latter.

The missing woman was found with the photographer before his death, establishing his role in the kidnap case, the CI added.
