ONGOLE : Finance Minister K Rosaiah here today inaugurated District Police Office building renovated at a cost of Rs. 20 lakh. MP Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy inaugurated the building constructed to hold meetings for grievances redressal for which he had sanctioned Rs. 10 lakhs from his Local Area Development Fund. Mr. Rosaiah appreciated Superintdent of Police N Balasubramanyam for completing the construction of both the buildings on a war-footing just before getting himself relieved on transfer to Hyderabad.He said Mr Balasubramanyam won appreciation from all quarters for the good work he had done in in the district. Mr. Balasubramanayam demonstrated the Internet Protocol cameras being installed at all vital places in the town to monitor the movement of traffic, anti-social elements, agitations etc. He said Prakasam is the first district to acquire such hi-tech equipment to render better service to the people.
New SP takes over
Later, Mr Balasubramanyam handed over charge to his successor Vineet Brijlal. Speaking to newspersons, Mr Brijlal said he would follow in the foot-steps of Mr Balasubramanyam. He said that any person violating rule of law would be considered enemies of the police. He would not give any relaxation in the fight against extremists in Nallamala forest. Mr. Brijlala said he would also deal with anti-social elements sternly. Mr. Balasubramanyam said Brijlal, an IPS officer of 2001 batch, worked as Assistant Superintendent of Police and Officer on Special Duty at Narsipatnam for two-and-a-half years and as Additional Superintendent of Police at Vizianagaram for four months before getting his first posting as Superintendent of Police, Prakasam. He said he had played key role in containing the Maoists operating on Andhra Orissa Border (AOB) and personally led the forces in combing operations in high hills.
