KANCHEEPURAM: Police personnel in the rank of head constable will be deployed in nine police stations along the Tamil Nadu-Andhra Pradesh border to track naxalite activities, Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Kancheepuram Range, Mohammed Shakeel Akhter, said here on Tuesday. He told reporters here on Tuesday that these head constables on special duty would also interact with their counterparts in Andhra Pradesh police stations along the border and exchange information. They would be posted in Arambakkam, Pathirivedu, Uthukottai, Kannurpet, K.K.Chatram, Tirutani, Pothatturpet, Pallipattu and R.K.Pet police stations. Mr. Akhter said village vigilance committees would be revamped and deployed on law and order duties, night patrolling and traffic management. Week-long in-house training would be conducted for constables in the Kancheepuram Range. They would undergo medical check-up and improve their physical fitness. Arms training and lectures on criminal and human right procedures would form part of the programme. A method of delivering documents required for filing accident claims directly to relatives of victims or those seriously deformed would be tried out in the Kancheepuram range. Mr. Akhter hoped this would alleviate their difficulties in getting third party insurance claims. A set of copies of the FIR, insurance and registration certificates of the vehicle concerned, post-mortem certificate and police certificate would be handed over to the victims or their relatives at their doorstep.
