MANGALORE: Several organisations under the leadership of the Dakshina Kannada unit of Kannada Sahitya Parishat will conduct a "padyatra" from Tagore Park to the Deputy Commissioner's office on Wednesday to support the Cauvery cause. A community prayer will be held before the padyatra, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, president of the parishat, told presspersons here. Representatives from all religions would participate in the prayer meet to be held on the Kadri temple premises, Mr. Kalkura said. Religious leaders, artistes, and representatives of service organisations would participate in the "Cauvery nadige jatha", Mr. Kalkura said.
Memorandum
They will submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister and the President through the Deputy Commissioner. They would demand the intervention of the Union Government to ensure fair distribution of the river water to Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, he said. Around 3,000 persons from over 30 organisations were expected to participate in the jatha, Mr. Kalkura said.
