Employees to stage dharna in State capitals

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: State Government employees throughout the country will stage a demonstration in State capitals on March 22 to press their demands. Talking to newsmen here on Tuesday,

All-India State Employees Coordination Committee vice-president K. Balasubramanian said the employees would take out a rally in Delhi in April last week or May first week, demanding removal of bonus ceiling, increase in income tax exemption limit to Rs. 2 lakh per annum, hike in PF interest rate and lifting of the ban on recruitment in Central Government departments.

He wanted the Tamil Nadu Government to restore pension benefits to those who retired between April 1 and July 31 and commutation to 40 per cent from 33 per cent.

Filling vacancies in various departments, scraping the new pension scheme and regularisation of all temporary employees and those on consolidated pay were the other demands.
