CHENNAI
: In a daring daylight crime, an armed gang murdered a youth in the city on Tuesday. Police said that Agatheesh (25) was living with his two brothers in fishing harbour police station limits.
Following enmity with another gang in a neighbouring area, they allegedly murdered Rammohan of Ennore a year ago. That gang allegedly killed Agatheesh when he was about to set out into the sea in the morning.
He suffered severe injuries and died on the spot. The gang fled. A case of murder was registered. The body was sent for a post-mortem.
Three cars gutted
Three luxury passenger cars were damaged in a fire accident, which occurred at a kalyana mandapam on Monday night. Fire service and rescue personnel said here on Tuesday that they received a call from a kalyana mandapam on Kilpauk Sylvan Lodge Colony Second Cross Street. They rushed fire tenders there and put out the fire. The accident was suspected to have happened as a live electricity wire fell atop the thatched roof, which fell over the cars parked underneath.
The value of the loss was not known immediately.
