80 nominations filed for Council poll

Last day for filing of nominations is February 22

HYDERABAD: As many as 80 nominations were filed for elections to the State Legislative Council on Tuesday -- the largest number filed on any single day since February 15 when the elections were notified. Among the three candidates who filed papers for the local bodies' constituencies were T. Bobji (Cong) from Srikakulam and P. Ashok Rao (TDP) from Karimnagar. The third candidate was an independent. The last day for filing of nominations is February 22.

Meanwhile, three individuals filed writ petitions in the High Court on Tuesday complaining that their names were not found in the general electoral rolls.
