Two held for fraud

NEW DELHI: Two young men have been arrested by the Economic Offences Wing of the Delhi police for allegedly running bogus mailing companies and committing a fraud of over Rs. 20 lakh.

Krishan Kanahiya Noorie (31) and Anil Deswal (33) together launched a mailing company, Star Mailing Solutions, and earned a contract from DLF Universal Limited to dispatch letters to their shareholders for a debenture issue on December 23, 2005. Similarly, another company, Sunshine Mailing Services, was floated and a contract to mail admission cards for Basic Teacher Certificate (BTC) Entrance Examination-2006 conducted by the Uttaranchal Government was grabbed. The accused adopted a similar modus operandi and allegedly committed fraud. Following a complaint at the Sarojini Nagar police station regarding the earlier case of DLF, investigations were conducted and the accused arrested.
