NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday gave the Delhi Government ten days to get cages ready to trap the monkeys here and shift them to Asola wildlife sanctuary in South Delhi. A Division Bench of the Court comprising Justice Swatanter Kumar and Justice H.R. Malhotra directed the Government to have the cages manufactured within the prescribed period and start catching the monkeys. The Government wanted three weeks to put all arrangements in place to catch the monkeys, but the Court rejected it. The Bench once again directed the civic body to catch the monkeys in a humane manner without hurting them. It directed the Government to build a steep wall around the place in the sanctuary where the monkeys would be shifted to prevent them from returning to the city. Meanwhile, the four-member committee set up to oversee the enforcement of the Court orders to shift monkeys from the Capital to Asola failed to submit its report to the Bench.
