Medical camp for pregnant women held

Staff Reporter

KADAPA: Kadapa Mayor P. Ravindranath Reddy on Tuesday exhorted pregnant women to regularly undergo medical check-ups and follow doctors' advice.

He inaugurated a free medical camp organised by Nagara Seva Samithi at an urban health centre at Akkayapalle here. Steel pitchers were given to 17 women who underwent family planning operations besides medicines and eggs to 150 pregnant women who underwent check-up.

Five urban health centres were established in Kadapa for benefit of the downtrodden and weaker sections, minorities and poor persons, the Mayor said.

A referral hospital with three doctors and 30 paramedical staff was set up in the old Government hospital, as RIMS hospital came up on Kadapa outskirts, he said.

Efforts were being taken to safeguard public health, Kadapa Municipal Commissioner S. Aleem Basha said and urged people not to throw litter on streets but dispose it off in dustbins or garbage-collection rickshaws.

He stressed the need for keeping surroundings clean.

Nagara Seva Samithi organised seven medical camps so far and gave away medicines and eggs to patients, its president Maseema Babu said.
