ANANTAPUR: The Housing Department has decided to set up one `nirmithi kendra' in every two mandals in the district to meet the demand of construction material for Indiramma housing scheme. Construction material like cement bricks, windows, door-frames and beams will be manufactured in these nirmithi kendras. District Collector D. Kadmiel has directed the Mandal Revenue Officers to allot two acres of land to the Housing Department for this purpose. The Housing Department will sink a borewell in the allotted places to enable manufacture of housing material and supply them to the beneficiaries of houses sanctioned under Indiramma scheme. The Collector also instructed the MROs to expedite allotment of house sites to beneficiaries as 6,546 beneficiaries who were sanctioned houses were yet to be given house sites. Of the 1,15,141 houses sanctioned, 87, 238 were grounded and only 16,885 of the latter were completed so far. The Collector asked the MROs and MPDOs to visit the villages to learn the problems of the beneficiaries.
Tri-colour on walls
Further, the Collector asked the officials to paint tri-colour on the walls and roof of Indiramma houses. A training programme will also be conducted soon for the village supervising committee on the housing scheme. The Collector also directed the MROs and MPDOs to reside in their headquarters for proper supervision of the development and welfare schemes. He told the MPDOs to paste photos of job-seekers on the NREGS job cards and help the beneficiaries of housing scheme open accounts in banks.
