NALGONDA: Educationist Chukka Ramaiah has observed that the State has become "a laboratory" for the World Bank.

Speaking to reporters after filing his nomination for Nalgonda-Warangal-Khammam Teachers' constituency of the Legislative Council, Mr. Ramaiah, an expert in IIT coaching, said: "Situation is deteriorating by every passing day. Especially, education sector is in shambles. The Government is creating a mess by introducing various new concepts in the field of education."

He also alleged that the successive Governments had neglected Telangana on many fronts. "I hope to fight against the injustice meted out to the backward region. At the same time I would not let down the teaching community, which reposed tremendous faith in me," he maintained.

A good number of teachers led by the United Teachers' Federation took out an impressive rally in the town before Mr. Ramaiah filed his nomination.

Accompanied by Tammineni Veerabhadram and Nandhyala Narasimha Reddy of the CPI (M) and Tummala Nageswar Rao, Uma Madhava Reddy, Gutta Sukhender Reddy and Aakarapu Sudarshan of the TDP, Boggaveeti Sarala of Khammam filed her nomination papers for the Graduates' Constituency.

While six persons filed their nominations for Teachers' Constituency, 13 persons submitted their papers for Graduates' Constituency so far, Collector K.Vijayanand said.
