Common agenda for Council poll

Staff Reporter

Three former hostel mates contesting MLC poll focus on unemployment, separate Telangana

ADILABAD: It is a coincidence of sorts that three former hostel mates at Osmania University campus, Hyderabad, are contesting the AP Legislative Council elections from the graduates' constituency of Karimnagar-Medak-Nizamabad and Adilabad. Among other things that are common to them are success in life and the prime agenda of improving the lot of unemployed youth and seeking separate Telangana State after getting elected.

L. Srinath, T. Prabhakar Reddy and B. Madhusudan Reddy had `lived' their `carefree' days in the `prestigious' Old PG hostel at Osmania during the late 1980s and early 90s. All three eventually became doctors having completed Ph.D. in Telugu, Economics and Archaeology.

Srinath diverted into Telugu film industry as a story and scriptwriter. He even directed `Kubusam' which was received well by the audience.

Prabhakar Reddy achieved a host of degrees in the field of education and worked until recently with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) at Chennai. He claims to be one of the `architects' of the Andhra Pradesh Rural Employment Guarantee Programme having worked closely with Rural Development Principal Secretary K. Raju.

Madhusudan Reddy went on to become a faculty member at the University, led different associations and unions at University level and is a founder member of Telangana Rashtra Samithi. He is chairman of Manjeer and BMR group of educational institutions.

Having gone through the uncertainties of life during their phase of unemployment, the three candidates swear to create job opportunities for graduates among other promises.
