HAL official arrested on graft charge

BANGALORE:
Officials of the anti-corruption branch of CBI arrested a senior official of Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL) while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 3,000 from a contractor on Tuesday.
A release said that B. Thulasiraman, Chief Manager (QC) of Aircraft Division, HAL, was caught red-handed while taking the bribe from a contractor for the release of the liquidated damages claim amounting to Rs. 1.46 lakh. The contractor had executed some work at the HAL Aircraft Division.
The release said that the Chief Manager had initially sought Rs. 5,000. Mr. Thulasiraman has been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988. He has been remanded in judicial custody by the 21st Additional City Civil Sessions and Special Judge for CBI cases till February 27.
