Kootuhole reservoir to be repaired

Madikeri: Deputy Commissioner Subodh Yadav on Wednesday inspected the Kootuhole reservoir on the outskirts of the city here and directed the officials concerned to take steps to repair the leaking weir.

The right corner of the reservoir leaked and it could be a major repair work. It would be taken up later as a permanent measure, Mr. Yadav said.

However, as a temporary measure, steps would be taken to build a wall to prevent the leaked water from draining, he said.

The Kootuhole reservoir level is fast depleting. The Madikeri City Municipal Council (CMC) authorities are facing a tough time in supplying water with many areas getting water once in two or three days.

Funds were available for the construction of the wall, Mr. Yadav said. A concrete-bed would be laid first before building the wall. CMC Commissioner D.H. Raya and engineers were present.
