AHMEDABAD : The police arrested two alleged agents of the Pakistani intelligence organisation, ISI, from Bhuj in Gujarat on Thursday. District Superintendent of Police Gyanendrasinh Malik said Aslam and Syed Ali were arrested on the basis of information supplied by the ISI agent, Adil Anjuman, who was arrested in Lucknow in December. Adil had worked for several months in Bhuj and other parts of Kutch to develop a spy module in the border district and was brought on transit warrant to Bhuj for spot-checking. He identified Aslam, who originally hailed from Junagadh in the Saurashtra region of Gujarat, as having helped him to secure false passports and other documents and having used his contacts to create the module. Syed Ali, a public telephone booth owner, also had connections with Adil and Aslam, but the police were not sure whether he was aware of their activities.
Interrogation
Mr. Malik said intensive interrogation of the arrested was on to find out more details about the ISI activities in the region. The police also claimed to have recovered photographs of the high-security Kandla port and some sensitive documents from their possession.
