PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry Munnetra Congress has urged the Government to drop the port modernisation project. The party was against the project, as it would pave the way for seawater intrusion and erosion of coastal villages, K Lakshminarayanan, MLA, told reporters here on Thursday. The construction of a pier a few years ago had damaged nearby villages and the project would destroy these villages, he alleged.
