ANANTAPUR: Training classes on installation and maintenance of drip irrigation system were conducted jointly by the AP Industrial Technical Consultancy Organisation and Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, here on Thursday. Speaking at the inaugural session, Assistant Director of District Industries Centre Madanmohan Shetty said drip irrigation had high significance in the areas like Anantapur, the district that receives second lowest rainfall in the country. The State Government had been giving importance for use of the system by farmers to conserve the available water. R. Imam Patel, district project coordinator of APITCO, explained the importance of training classes and aspects to be covered. He also elaborated employment opportunities after completion of the training.
