ANANTAPUR: The farmers who lost their lands in Penna Ahobilam Balancing Reservoir and did not get any compensation for the last 25 years launched relay fast protest in front of the Collectorate here on Thursday. Protesting under the aegis of PABR Nirvasithula Sangham, they demanded the State Government to pay compensation for their submerged lands . Speaking at the protest, district secretary of API (M) G. Obulakonda Reddy said the oustees of the project did not get justice for 25 long years. He asked the Government to pay compensation as well as employment to the displaced families.
Lands
He explained that farmers of Ramasagarm and Jeedipalli villages in Beluguppa mandal, Mylarampalli and Rachapalli of Uravakonda mandal, Jayapuram and Korrakodu in Kuderu mandal had lost their lands in the project. Besides, 13 farmers died in pursuance for compensation , he noted.
