CHANDIGARH: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has accorded approval to several projects for widening and six-laning of some roads with access control. NHAI Chairman Pradeep Kumar said on Thursday that the Authority proposes to invest Rs. 5,000 crores for widening and improvement of various national highways passing through Haryana. He was participating in a meeting of the co-ordination committee to facilitate implementation of National Highway projects by the NHAI in Haryana. The meeting was chaired by Haryana Chief Secretary Prem Prashant. The six-laning of National Highway-1 from Panipat to Ambala had already been approved for which the detailed project report would be ready by June 2007.
