Plea to fill vacancies of computer operators

`Give preference to IT-trained candidates'

GULBARGA: The Students Federation of India (SFI) and members of the ITI Computer Trainees Association have demanded that the Government fill up vacancies of computer operators in government and semi-government organisations and thereby open up employment avenues to those trained at Industrial Training Institutes.

The students staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office and submitted a memorandum to the district authorities on Thursday.

It was unfortunate that the Government had not taken up recruitment of computer operators for more than a decade. This had left without jobs thousands of students trained in computer operations, it said.

The memorandum said that even in the recruitment taken up under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

The students demanded that the Government should direct the KSRTC and KPTCL to fill up vacancies soon, and give preference to ITI-trained computer operators.
