Tales and telling effect

S. Aishwarya

TIRUCHI: Social messages through spellbinding fables and comic characters are more endearing to kids than long hours of counselling. Testifying this was the recent competition conducted under the aegis of Hindustan Lever Limited. They put across the message of hygiene to schoolchildren through a fictional character called `Chulbuli.'

A quintessential Indian girl, Chulbuli is smart and loves to explore the world. Her curiosity helps her gain an overwhelming friends circle and she discusses funny instances among her friends. This theme was narrated to over 1,000 children from 10 schools, who participated in the drawing competition conducted by the company. The kids were given resource kits and were asked to create a collage of anything that strikes them when they enter Chulbuli's world. The collages of the kids carried the message loud and clear — personal hygiene is an integral part of a child's health.
