Arrangements made for Kumbha Bharani festival

ALAPPUZHA: All arrangements have been made for the Kumbha Bharani festival at Chettikulamgara Temple in the district famous for its `Kettukazhchas' (tableaux). The festival will be held on Friday.

The main features of the Bharani festival are the Kuthiyottam (a ritual dance) which will be held in the morning at the temple and the procession of Kettukazhchas which will be held in the afternoon.

Kettukazhchas from 13 karas (villages) will take part in the festival. The

Kettukazchas include six temple cars, five chariots and huge idols of Bhima and Hanuman, all made from locally available materials.

The Kettukazchas are made at a specially marked sacred spots in each villages. The Kettukazchas are of height ranging from 70 ft to 120 ft.

The Kettukazhchas will arrive at the temple by Friday afternoon in huge processions. After the ritual perambulation of temple, it will be moved to the ground near the temple.

The Kettukazchas will be parked in the ground at the marked places and remain there till early morning on Saturday.
