Licences of hotels and lodges set to expire on March 31

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI : Licences of hotels, eating houses, fast food outlets, restaurants, lodges and boarding and lodging houses in the city, now in currency, will expire on March 31 and must be renewed for the period April 1 to March 31, 2008.

Licensees may apply for renewal in a plain paper, affixing a two-rupee court fee stamp. The application should include the police licence for 2006-2007 in original and fee receipt remitted in the Corporation for Corporation licence for the year 2007-2008. The relevant licence fee may be paid in advance at the cash section of the Commissioner of Police's office from 10.30 a.m. to 13.30 p.m. from Monday to Friday.

The licences should be renewed before March 31. Otherwise, action would taken against those running eating houses, fast food joints, hotels, restaurants, lodges and boarding and lodging places without a properly renewed police licence as per the Chennai City Police Act.

The last date for submission of applications for renewal of licences is March 31. Applications received after that date will be liable to a fine of Rs. 50 a day besides the regular licence annual fee, according to a press note from the Police Commissioner's office.
