Coming: `mosquito musketeers'

Exnora International, a voluntary organisation, will form a team of `mosquito musketeers' to fight the mosquito menace in the city.

The musketeers will visit houses and offices to counsel people on how to curb mosquito breeding and help residents to cover overhead tanks and septic tanks.

They will survey open spaces to check for water stagnation and contact the Chennai Corporation to bale out stagnant water in public spaces. Exnora Founder M.B. Nirmal said the musketeers would check for blocks in storm water drains and illegal sewage connections. They would also help in introducing fish species that prey on mosquito larvae in wells.

Mr. Nirmal urged more residents to join the fight against mosquitoes.
