At a ceremony organised by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi at "Balidan Sthal" in Town Hall where Swami Shardhanand's statue is installed, Deputy Mayor Anita Babbar garlanded the statue. Rape accused arrested
According to the police, Sarfaraz was known to the victim's younger sister and was a frequent visitor to their home for the past one year. When the victim went to the Janakpuri District Centre for shopping on Wednesday evening, Sarfaraz took her to Sunlight colony in Nizamuddin in an auto-rickshaw on some pretext. According to the complainant, Sarfaraz offered her cold drink laced with sedatives and assaulted her criminally in a semi-conscious state, the police said. Medical examination of the victim confirmed the criminal assault.
Remand extended
The accused were produced in the court of Special Judicial Magistrate Sapna Mishra in the morning and remanded to CBI custody. The proceedings lasted just five minutes. The CBI got custody of the accused for the fourth time after the case was handed over to it from the Uttar Pradesh police early last month in the wake of allegations that the police were hand in glove with the accused. Elaborate security arrangements had been made at the court to prevent any untoward incident.
`Robbers' nabbed
The accused have been identified as Shaukeen, Akeel Ahmed, Shahadat Ali, Rasool Mohammed, Riyazuddin and Shamshuddin. During interrogation, the accused purportedly confessed to having committed robberies in several buses.
LubeAsia planned
The exhibition, being held in India for the first time, is expected to fulfil the long felt needs of the lubricant industry to have a platform that could be used to launch any product, demonstrate new technology and impart any kind of education or awareness programme for lube users, according to the Director of Nexgen Exhibitions Limited, V.K. Bansal.
