Punishment for neglecting parents

New Delhi: The Government has proposed a bill, under the provisions of which a person neglecting his or her aged parents can attract punitive measures.

It also provides for an option to revoke the will.

It will provide effective care and protection to the senior citizens and provide speedy and inexpensive legal framework to grant maintenance to them.

A meeting of the Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh gave its nod to the bill. — PTI
