New organisation for insurance customers

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: The General Insurance Customer Association will organise seminars and workshops to educate the people on managing the general insurance portfolio.

The newly formed organisation intends to bring general insurance customers of all public sector and private sector general insurance companies in India under one banner.

Explaining the background of the formation of the association, its president Jacob Mathew said the insurance sector was changing very fast. With numerous schemes offered by different insurers, there is a need for the customer to acquire at least the basic knowledge of general insurance management to avoid heavy losses.

The association has opened a free consultation cell in Kochi. Customers can get advice on different policies and lodge complaints on general insurance matters, he said.
