Winning laurels

Sithara Krishnakumar has signed off in style. She won the `Kalalathilakam' title at, what she said, was in all probability her last Calicut Univeristy inter-zone arts festival.

"I don't see myself competing at the university festivals next year," said a delighted Sithara, for whom this is the second Kalathilakam title in a row. "I want to look beyond such competitions. That would help me concentrate more on my performances, both in music and dance," she said.

The BA (English) final year student of Farook College bagged the title after coming first in Kuchipudi, second in Bharatanatyam and Classical Music and third in Light Music. She faced stiff competition from C. Remya of Vimala College, Thrissur.

Both the girls had an event each to compete on the final day, and their performances were going to be decisive.

Remya could only finish third in Kathaprasangam, which took her tally to nine points. Sithara scored 12.
